Lagoons Gallery presents ‘Spirit of the Past –a Series of Hotels and Pubs of Mackay and Surrounding District’ by Jim Cunington

 

‘Spirit of the Past’ celebrates the rich history of Mackay and its district through a captivating series of paintings that showcases some of our grand hotels and pubs, some of which have vanished over time.

Artist Jim Cunington masterfully evokes a sense of nostalgia, illustrating moments frozen in time that narrate the stories of resilience of those iconic buildings. The artworks reflect not only the architectural beauty and the communities unwavering spirit through extreme weather conditions including floods and cyclones. This exhibition invites viewers to appreciate the enduring legacy of these places and the collective strength they symbolise in our shared history.
