We offer a range of hire spaces across Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens and Queens Park, suitable for community events, weddings, meetings and festivals.

Before applying, we recommend you visit the sites to help choose the best location. Not all events are suitable for hire within our botanic and park areas.

Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens

The Gardens offers flexible outdoor and indoor spaces for:

Meadowlands Amphitheatre

Found directly in the middle of the beautiful Mackay Regional Botanic Gardens, the Meadowlands Amphitheatre features a background of lush tropical vegetation and an expansive lagoon waterway, providing the perfect setting for almost any event!

Located just off the Bruce Highway, only five kilometres from the Mackay City Centre and with plenty of free car parking spaces available, Meadowlands is a venue that’s easy to access for both locals and visitors to the region.

With a purpose-built stage and roof with attachment points for sound/lighting equipment, a capacity for up to 5000 people, two air-conditioned green rooms (both with bench space and a large mirrors), three large concession stands and an on-site amenity block, you’ll find the Meadowlands Amphitheatre is THE place to host your outdoor event in Mackay.

The control booth/power box with conduits to the amphitheatre (to run sound and lighting) is located in the middle of the event lawn area.

The concessions area is about 2500m2 with three power boxes, each containing three 240v outlets, three three-phase outlets and an adjacent potable water tap. Additionally, one green room has three three-phase power outlets and the controls for the venue lighting (four halogens and six metal halides split between two lighting poles).

The event precinct car park can cater for 196 vehicles (including four disability access bays). However, this may not be adequate for all events, so we highly recommend promoting the use of public transport or carpooling. Overflow parking is available, but arrangements need to be agreed ahead of time as part of the booking process.
